There are several low cost airlines now flying to Sofia. These include Wizzair from Luton and easyJet from Gatwick with both operating daily schedules. EasyJet fly twice weekly to Sofia from Manchester and Air Bulgaria operate flights from both Heathrow and Gatwick to Sofia.

Transfers / Car Hire 

The transfer time is approx 2 hours 15 minutes. There are several companies offering a transfer service from the airport to Bansko and prices start from 20 euro per person each way, i.e. 80 euro return for a couple.

Alternatively you could hire a car. The Bulgarian road network is much improved over the last few years and driving yourself is now a feasible alternative.
